Introduction to Traditional 6 Strand Rattan Cane Weaving
This beginners one day class is for those who wish to learn the traditional 6 strand weaving pattern. It can be applied to restoration projects, or frame design to develop new work by furniture designer-makers.
You will be guided through weaving a practice frame and shown examples of the finishing processes of pegging, couching and beading. By the end of the day you will have a sample frame, plus printed instructions and receive extra cane to practice the technique at home.
If you have any small rattan restoration pieces you would like to bring along there may be time to discuss them with the group.

All materials and tools are provided. If you would like to work with your own tools, do bring them along. Please bring an apron or workshirt.
